Barcode Country Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 20, 2026

Barcode Country (the "App") is an iOS application that reads product barcodes
and shows the country or organization that registered the barcode's GS1 prefix.
The barcode lookup happens entirely on your device. This Privacy Policy
explains, plainly, what the App does and does not do with data. The App is
provided by Sergey Makarov (the "Developer"). Questions: feedback@smkrv.net.

Summary

The App works fully offline. It collects no personal data, has no user
accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no tracking. The
Developer runs no server that receives your data. The App makes no network
connections on its own. The only time anything leaves your device is when you
tap a "Search online" button on a result, which opens your web browser to look
up that barcode - see section 3.

1. What the App does on your device

- Scanning: with your permission, the App uses the camera to read a barcode.
  Camera frames are processed on your device, in real time, only to detect the
  barcode digits. No photo or video is taken, saved, or transmitted.
- Lookup: the App reads the barcode's GS1 prefix and finds the matching country
  or organization from a table built into the App. This needs no network.
- History: the App stores each scan (the barcode number and the time) on your
  device only. You can delete entries at any time by swiping a row.
- Settings: your appearance choice (System / Light / Dark) is stored on your
  device.

This data never leaves your device. The Developer never receives it.

2. What the Developer does not collect

The Developer does not collect, receive, store, or transmit:

- the barcodes you scan or your scan history;
- camera images, photos, or video;
- your contacts, files, location, or device identifiers;
- usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports sent to the Developer;
- any account information - the App has no accounts and no sign-in.

The App contains no advertising and no third-party tracking or analytics
software.

3. Network and optional web search

On its own the App makes no network connections: decoding a barcode and finding
its country use a table bundled inside the App and need no internet.

A result screen offers optional "Search online" buttons (Google, Bing, Yandex,
DuckDuckGo). If you tap one, the App opens that barcode number as a search query
in a web browser. This is the only case where data - the barcode number you
chose to search - leaves your device, and it goes to the search engine you
picked, not to the Developer. What that search engine does with the query is
governed by its own privacy policy. If you never tap these buttons, the App
makes no network connections.

4. Camera

The App requests camera access only to read barcodes. The camera is used to
detect barcode digits in real time on your device. Images are not stored and
not transmitted. You can use the App without the camera by entering a barcode
number by hand.

5. If you obtained the App from the App Store

Apple distributes the App and handles any purchases and updates. Apple may
collect information about that under Apple's own Privacy Policy at
https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. The Developer does not receive your
identity from Apple; at most the Developer sees aggregate, non-identifying App
Store statistics.

6. A note about results

A barcode's GS1 prefix identifies the organization that registered the number
for the brand owner (usually a country), not necessarily where the product was
manufactured. The App shows where the barcode was registered and does not claim
to show the country of manufacture. Results are informational.

7. Your rights

The Developer holds no personal data about you, so in most cases there is
nothing for the Developer to access, correct, export, or delete. The data you
create with the App - your scan history - is on your device and under your
control; you can view or delete it yourself at any time.

8. Children

Barcode Country is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.

9. Changes to this policy

The Developer may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or in
applicable law. The effective date above shows when the current version took
effect.
